Google Adsense is often the first and best source of income for any blog. But it is quite hard to get Adsense approval especially at the early stages of blogging, when traffic flow to your blog is low. An alternate revenue source is the Affiliate Program.
Unlike Adsense where you earn money by the amount of viewership in your blog, Affiliate Programs work on sales commission. All online shopping sites like e-Bay, Amazon and Flipkart (in India) have their own affiliate programs. The links to join them are given below.

When you join an affiliate program, you are given codes (or links) which direct users to their sites. These may include advertisements and promotions of their product. You can put these ads on your blog. A typical example of an ad is given below.

If your audience clicks on the above link, he/she will be taken to a page in Flipkart. If he/she buys any product from the online shopping site within 24 hours, the blog owner will get a percentage (normally 4-10%) as commission.
This can be received as gift vouchers or cash when a certain threshold is reached. Its quite simple and the approval process is less stringent than Adsense programs.
